No, because (cascading) order matters: software > site > user.

Site and user resources are in the document from the beginning (inserted
server-side). The marker is placed right before that point in the document,
which is where any dynamically loaded modules are added.

See also comment 4 for why we can't put the ID on the last software resource.

We can't put the ID on the first site/user resource because some wikis don't
have local overrides (in which case the tag isn't there), and many users don't
have overrides (in which case that tag isn't there). So then one would still
need a marker. The simplest solution is to have the marker there anyway.

A more elaborate solution would be to iterate through this stuff server side
and generate and put the ID on the first site/user resource and if there are
none, output an empty

We should have a working implementation of the beacon endpoint in MediaWiki for
third-party users who may not be using Varnish.

The matter raised by Dereckson is indeed major. Wikimedia projects have to
support many different languages, and a UTF-8 compatible font seems a technical
necessity for logos and stuff like this as well as a common sense requirement
to be considered. You have to think long-term, not only at russian but at all
sorts of other fonts.

I would have thought the less you have editor, the more quickly you can get a
consensus.

I see four solutions:

(1) To choose another font. A new round of vote, with a *professional* font
(professional meaning UTF-8 compatible, with diacritics support to write é ô ï
etc., and with Cyrillic characters support)

(2) To improve the current font.

(3) ru. chose as name Wikivoyage in Latin characters. 

(4) The community decides they don't care about coherence (which would mean a
broader support than 4 ou 5 opinions) and denies to ru. the right to have the
same font than others wikis.

es is on incubator, so there's no rush. But I'll make a logo for them in a sec.

What should we do about Cyrillic? The community at ruwikivoyage is small (only
one active editor, apparently) and they are not likely to reach a consensus
quickly.

I don't understand your concern with coherence. What is "graphical chart
coherence"?

I have discovered that 6 of the 7 WV languages are currently using the English
name "Wikivoyage", so no additional logos need to be prepared for those
projects. 

ruwikivoyage will require its own logo, however the font we are using doesn't
contain Cyrillic characters, so I suggest you just give ruwikivoyage the
English logo for now. (They are already using an English logo, so they would be
used to it.)

Sorry, I looked at some similar bugs to see if it can be done and didn't note
anyone else bothering about this. But, yes, we did discuss it in relation to
changing our main page design, which could use automatically switching content
at local midnight, so we don't need a notice on it explaining that it will
change at 2 a.m. I asked specifically about this here:

These are ones I made today. I added more so there are 10K. I assume it's fine
to switch to these when the other wikis go back to swift (they were reverted to
nfs after some 401 errors).

UploadWizard", although this isn't as easy to exploit for statistical queries.

Looks like the opinion at the Commons discussion is split (as well as in the

delete it, feel free to reopen.

I tried to add a link to the first entry under BarData by changing this line:
bar:Akerfeldt text:"Mikael Åkerfeldt"
to this line"
bar:Akerfeldt text:[[Mikael_Åkerfeldt]]

In the new image, the text "Mikael Åkerfeldt" was blue, but was not clickable.

I then tried to change the same text to a link by changing the line to the
following: 
bar:Akerfeldt text:"Mikael Åkerfeldt"
link:http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikael_Åkerfeldt
Like the first attempt the text "Mikael Åkerfeldt" was blue but not clickable.
However this image also had the phrase "Invalid image map generated by
EasyTimeline" in red above the image.

If the last key's value in the query string is empty, then the trailing
semicolon appears to be its value.  For example,

  mw.eventLog.schemas.GettingStarted.defaults = {};
  mw.eventLog.logEvent( 'GettingStarted', {anon: false, action: "x", token: ""}
);

validates OK but logs as
/event.gif?_db=my_wiki&_id=GettingStarted&_rv=4910146&_ok=true&anon=false&action=x&token=;

and DevServer.php interprets this final parameter as { token: ";" }.  The
server log2json.py code strips the semicolon (using parse_qsl(q.strip('?;')) )
so that endpoint doesn't experience this bug.

One fix might be to always pad the query string with &;, in logEvent()
beacon.src = baseUri + '?' + queryString + '&;';


This bug will go away when and if we encode a JSON structure in the query
string, as its key values are delimited by JSON punctuation.

Ariel explained to me that there's an outstanding bug in irclib (or ircbot.py
or whatever gerrit-wm uses) in handling netsplits. I suppose this bug is as
good as any to track that issue.

This was caused by a format change of the MediaWiki SiteArray object and the
old outdated version still being in memcached.
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/42037 will fix this.

To verify this I had to add Memcached to the Wikibase test environment, it
would be great if that would be the case per default.

This issue still persists. 

There are 11,750 articles containing the word "hunger". This is divisible by 50
and 250. 

This is the last page of results -

If you scroll all the way down that page and select "next 250", the next page
has the message "There were no results matching the query."

With issues like bug 43595, it would be very helpful to have something like
test2.wikipedia for the wikibase repo and wikidata.org

We'd be able to catch any such issue and, if needed, debug.

We could do initial deployment there, same time as test2 wiki, and assuming no
problems, then to wikidata.org say on the first Wednesday of the deployment
schedule.

Setting up a new production wiki is a fairly simple thing to do and think it's
well worth it.

With wmf7 deployment of core, we saw all labels and language codes for all
Wikidata items (old and new) were being displayed as "English" and "en".

We've switched wikidata back to wmf6 version of core, and that immediately
fixed the issue.

I can't reproduce on my test instance, even with experimental features turned
off, but there's definitely some major bug or issue.

Here's one concrete example, which is where I noticed the issue.  I'm sure it
is not the only situation that it will occur in.

I have an extension (WikiDB) that is compatible with older versions of
MediaWiki, including MW1.6 which runs on PHP4.  I have existing users who still
use PHP4 and for whatever reason are unwilling/unable to upgrade, and I still
support those users, from a single code-base.

The biggest issue with E_STRICT is that it throws a warning if you make a
static call to a function which doesn't have the static keyword.  However, in
order to be compatible with PHP4, we need to omit it.  There are no ill-effects
by doing this in PHP5, except the annoying warnings.

Users of WikiDB are instructed to disable E_STRICT via a call to
error_reporting() in their LocalSettings.php, so the code works without these
messages being output.  However if there are any places in code which suppress
warnings, E_STRICT is temporarily re-enabled.  This manifests in PHP notices in
the search box, for example.

Even if the MW code-base is clean, this is something that is likely to occur in
extensions, and if warnings are being suppressed, then they should be - well -
suppressed.

On a more general note, best practice is to disable this kind of error on
production machines, however in PHP 5.4, the deliberate error suppression code
is actually un-suppressing errors!  That seems very broken to me.  At the very
least it should look at whether E_STRICT is currently being reported or not,
and only omit it from the suppression if it is not already suppressed.

This has been already done on bug 43092, where Bawolff did gerrit change 38650
which kills E_STRICT on wfSuppressWarnings.

Because those are for developers, not for production environments, and it has
been proved that some E_STRICT warnings arise before LocalSettings.php is
actually parsed, so they need to be supressed there for people that can't or
don't want to change global configuration about error_reporting.

I'm still not sure if I should close this bug as FIXED or as DUPLICATE of bug
43092 (and probably close bug 43092 also)

Why should it suppress them? Those kind of errors usually are problems with the
PHP code and not with some random i/o type errors that you usually want to

Note that this is only an issue on PHP 5.4 and above, where E_ALL now includes
E_STRICT.  In earlier versions of PHP, E_ALL excluded E_STRICT and so this did
not cause any issues.

In other words, this is a fix for a regression caused by changes in PHP 5.4.

I am trying to upload this set of photos onto Commons --
http://www.flickr.com/photos/evarinaldiphotography/sets/72157629245709014 -- it
is marked as moderate on Flickr due to nudity, etc. When I try to upload it,
the upload wizard tells me "Unfortunately, no photo in the photoset has a
license appropriate to be used on this site." This is patently not correct.
Because when I upload a single photo from the set, it works perfectly, as per

I'm a bit confused why a marker is needed. Couldn't it just add a style tag to
the bottom of the head element and add all of the styles there or could I not
add a style tag with an id in the head that can be targetted?

We still have a coherence issue.

Logos in another languages has to first be prepared, so we can deploy new logo
in every wiki and announce the visual identity deployment through a post on the
Wikimedia Blog.

Changed it to Special:DisambiguationPageLinks

We can't alias it to Special:Disambiguations until that page is actually
removed from core. I haven't removed it from core yet because I want to make
sure everyone is happy with the new Special page before we get rid of the old
one. So there will be a brief period during which both special pages will be
available.
