The wording is "potentially illegal". Since pretty much everything has
ability to be potentially illegal (with the possible exception of the
queen and statements in the chamber) defamatory is questionable.

It is understandable that the IWF would be mealy-mouthed rather than
accusing the Scorpions record label of making and distributing child
pornography.

So who thinks they'd issue a press release accusing Amazon of
distributing child porn if it were Amazon being blocked?

(I plan to call the press release "abusive and defamatory", 'cos it is.)

Today show appearance moved to 8:50am. Let's hope it doesn't fall off

Including ZDNet and The Register, this is the largest (albeit,
international) news source to mention the story. The story is geared
towards ISP censorship and the collateral of proxy filtering, rather
than the image itself.

"Robertson [IWF spokeswoman] said that image _ a picture from one of
the band's album covers _ was first flagged by an Internet user last
week. The Internet Watch Foundation consulted with British law
enforcement before concluding that the picture could break the law,
she said."

AP mean it will be carried across a bunch of reusers.

It's front page "OTHER TOP STORIES" link on BBC News Online, and
Guardian is carrying an article and an editorial online.

Hmm, that depends when you expect the AGM to be. We cant hold the AGM
until at least 21 days after the bank account is opened and they
haven't even asked us for proof of ID yet. With holidays, that could
easily drag on into the new year. We'll do it as quickly as possible
of course, but I personally wouldn't be surprised if the AGM was
around mid February.

I was hoping late January. If nothing goes wrong with the bank
account, it's perfectly believable that it could be open by the end of
the year, making late January an option for the AGM.

As I said when this issue came up in one of the board meeting, we can't
just call the AGM the day after we get a bank account. There need to be
time for people to join after the bank account, and before the notice,
so that they can be a member and decide/time to run for the board, which
need members to be nominated in writing.

Of course, it's no surprise that we hit a roadblock eventually - in
fact, I'm surprised everything has gone so smoothly until now.
Hopefully it will be done by the AGM, although that's a little
optimistic. There is no urgency - we can claim gift aid
retrospectively going back a couple of years, I think (there's no way
it should take that long). It just makes it easier to encourage people
to donate, but major fundraising isn't something we need to worry
about until after the AGM. I think, with or without this, we can open
metaphorical champagne at the AGM - getting that far is a great
achievement. (Of course, opening real champagne is even better if
anyone cares to buy some!)

As all things related to child pornography it seems that "guilty until

in use here.

I believe this is how we originally found the problem - someone
noticed a vast surge of traffic from a couple of IPs, they then found
they were linked to IWF, and went hunting for the root problem.

(FWIW, my home connection is Tiscali and worked fine last night; the
one I'm on now is BT, and apparently also fine...)
