Re: [Wikimediauk-l] Examples of First World War related projects?

2014-11-20 Thread Stevie Benton
Hello everyone,

Thanks again for the examples. I delivered the presentation this morning
which went well. Much of the audience was from the UK, which surprised me
given the location. Anyway, hopefully some folks will be in touch - and
they can now also work with the newly recognised Wikimedia Belgium, too.

With regards,

Stevie

Jonathan Cardy, Stuart Prior and I attended a talk on this at the Open Data

Roundabout. The ODI runs an excellent series of free Friday lunchtime
lectures , so if you're visiting the

[Wikimediauk-l] Planned downtime for Civi CRM database development: Monday 24th November at 17:00 UTC

2014-11-20 Thread Katherine Bavage
Dear All,

We are working with a contractor to make improvement to Civi CRM, the
database the charity uses to manage its contact records.

We need to allow our developers to take the database offline on Monday
evening of next week to work on some configuration and set up tasks.

This means from 17:00 on 24th to 08:00 25th November the parts of our sites
supported by Civi CRM will be inaccessible, including membership sign ups,
events sign ups, equipment booking and donations forms.

Obviously this is an inconvenience which is why we have scheduled it for
out of office hours, but we hope it will lead to improvements in lots of
the services we offer.

If you have any questions, or notice issues after the downtime is over you
can reply to this email, or email the Technology Committee mailing list at
t...@wikimedia.org.uk

Hello all,

The Great British Public Toilet Map [was launched yesterday] providing
details of over 8,000 public toilets in the UK including council
facilities, train stations, community toilet schemes as well as
shopping centres and libraries.

An alarming finding from the research by Royal College of Art Helen
Hamlyn Centre for Design, is just how few public toilets are now
available."

Article on launch (OSM not mentioned):

Map (using OSM data and Mapnik layer):
