2012-09-26 Thread CBB - Jay Fuller

Happy to see 3.65 reported ; think it will perform as good or better than
existing wimax products?

Subject: [WISPA] Cambium 450 event - my notes on the gear and demo

Here are some notes from yesterday events, please note this are not official
facts, most are notes from the slideshow and comments by Cambium Staff

  450 Current Status:
  -shipping as of yesterday
-currently supports 20 mhz channels 1/16 CP
  - 29 vdc

  Q4 Update
-New fw upgrade, full 200 subs support
  -Integrated GPS support
-5.4 support , pending FCC approval
-10 mhz channels and 1/8 CP

  2013
-New Band (didn't confirm which one, 3.65 seems a heavy contender)
  -PPS, C/I and Range enhancements
-Dual Channel Combo ( Didnt had a chance to ask)
  -1 Mhz Raster
-GigE support, 48 vdc an/or 802.3at POE format

  2014
-Interference Mitigation techniques - Orthogon technology
  -Dual Sector Siso
  -40 Mhz Channel Size
  -256 QAM
-Multi User Mimo ( Smart Antenna tech plus 4x4 or 8x8 mimo) I assume will
require new AP HW

So my take is that the 450 platform is on solid ground to serve the wisp
market for the next 4-5 years

We were able to visit the Cambium Offices and Lab, great experience! Staff
was super! and went the extra mile to accommodate our comments and questions.

The Lab visit really impressed me, way to many toys there! gear been tested
left and right! I was able to peak and some skunk works stuff... but thats all
I can say. I wish i could had taken pictures!

For Closing, we went to the parking lot where theay had a van with a
pneumatic mast and a bare 450 SM registered to an 450 AP 1 mile away, some
tests:

Mast at 65 ft - LOS -65 db rssi , LT was 98 Mbps at 6X 40 Mbps TCP transfer
Mast at 30 ft NearLOS - 70 rssi, LT was at 63 Mbps at 4x 40 Mbps TCP Transfer
Mast at 10 ft NLOS -870 rssi, LT was at 22 Mbps at 2x 14 Mbps TCP Transfer

Note LT data rates are the total of Downlink + Uplink

Thanks for the Cambium Staff for all...
