Hi *SM'ers
After migration from diskpool to tapepool, we see every day that several nodes
or collocation groups have 2 or sometimes even 3 filling tapes.
As far as i know, migration is always 1 stream per node/collocgroup, so there
must be only 1 filling max.
Right?
Is this a bug, a feature or
hi ,

Did you do the following in this order:
1) Restore the system file protection catalogs (dsmc restore "{SYSTEM
STATE}\windows\system32\catroot\*"
c:\windows\system32\ -sub=yes -rep=all )
2) Restore the C:\ (OS drive with C:\Windows or C:\Winnt), don't reboot.
3) Restore the system state, don't rebo
Hello,
I just want to thank you all for the input. It has been really valuable in my
discussion with the money people at my work place.
Right now we're running TSM on a Bull Esala PL220(power3, 2CPU 2GB memory) and
use some left-over Sun jbods disk rack for the database. Expiration takes a

Hi
What will be the most appropriate maxcapacity when defining a devclass of type
server (for server to server virtual volumes) if the volumes in the target
server are lto2. Big capacity like 400GB as a capacity of an lto2 tape or
something like 40GB.
Can anybody explain to me what will the be
Yes.. I tested this at the weekend..
You can write backups simultaneously to two primary tape pools (or disk
pools), on two different libraries, in two different locations as long
as they are connected by fibre.
Works like a dream! (as long as you have server version 5.2 or above)
Thanks to all
Kyle,
Thanks for the trick : I tried it, and was able to log-in again on the
machine. However, something probably failed during the systemstate
restore, as entire parts of the system configuration where lost ... Not
really funny, but this machine was only a test server, so the damage is
limited.
Not only do I not run expirations, I have also made copies of each policy
set and changed all retention parameters to "NOLIMIT". I made copies so
that I can easily return to normal when this situation is resolved.

The backup goes to the primary pool and copy pool(s) at the same time.

Also, if you start the GUI and click RESTORE, browse to the files you
are interested in, on the FAR RIGHT of the window you will see the
management class they backed up to, if you want to check the result of
your DIRMC implementation.

Tom,
Microsoft does not support restoring public folder databases
into the Recovery Storage Group. It can only be used to
restore mailbox databases.
Here is a nice reference for you:

Hi Andy
this is what I have checked already. Archive Copy Group is Event, and CM
has MODE=RETENTION. If I send an Archive with the API Sample Client over
TSM for DR, everything is ok, but I am not sure, whether this message says
definitive, that the CM-client sends a backup-operation or is it a
Hello,
TSM-server AIX 5.2, TSM 5.2.4.0
TSM-client W2K, TSM 5.2.4.3
We are looking to connect our file-servers to TSM in stead of ArcServe. As
part of this we are also looking for the best DR-strategy.
We did some testing with a small file-server (100 GB) and we see no
difference in throughput b
Steven and Rainer,
Thanks for the tip... I want to write it for the 5.3 server anyway...
So i need to install isc :-( Ah, it's for the greater good ;-)
Is there also any doc's about how to use the api?
Thanks again,
Maurice
