#1, what's your retention for this data if you don't need it reuse the tapes.
#2 if they aren't at 100% do move data on them to free up the tapes that way.
#3 if your solution calls for long term storage then just check them out and
you should be good to go.

Sorry, I think maybe you were also looking for clarification on your checkout
command. This is what we use.

We use home grown scripts that spit the failed output to either email or pager
when it errors out and writes to the log.

Either look in the logs or have a console running at the same time when you
attempt the move data. The addtional tapes required will write to either the
log or the console.

Hi list. We have recently upgraded to TSM Version 5, Release 2, Level 3.2. The SA
community did the install and have no follow up documentation. So far I've been
unable to find any related Admin reference docs or Redbooks. Since there have been
some obvious modifications with the upgrade I
that is).

I've also had to run an Audit Library when I've run into this situation.

On the same line of thought, I'm looking for a select statement that shows exactly
what tapes were used the previous night and what was written to the tapes. I get the
system generated report, but it's not very clear exactly what tapes are used for what.
Thanks in advance.

Why you ask? Because I'm having to justify ordering tapes and in order to do that I
have to organize the data in order create some type of forecasting. What I'm looking
for is a down and dirty select statement that just shows the previous nights usage.
Maybe it's in TSM but I haven't found
Hey group, I would like to expand on this thread. I have several duplicate files
that were inadvertantly saved to tape that are not saved exclusively to dedicated
tapes, meaning they are striped among files I need to retain. Does anyone know if the
delete volume command allows for deleting

But this will delete everything on the volume correct? Is there a way to be specific
other than perhaps using the Expiration option?

Just a wild guess, but could it be in relation to an E series server license?

Group, I have a slew of tapes I'm trying to validate. Is anyone aware of a command to
validate whether a tape is bad or not. Currently I have to wait until TSM tries to
write to the tape before I know the status.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
