You need the plain text password I believe. What you might try is
changing the ownership/permissions to root/root 600, so only root can
view and edit the file.

OK. I looked at nsadmin and it seems to be good at simple db managment. In
the nsd.tcl file there is a way to put in a username and password to access
a database. Can I put in an incrypted password there like the nsadmin
