Rajib-da,
good to hear your experience.
This saturday I attended my first Assamese get-together in US. First time in
US I helped arrange a party. Quite a memorable experience -most were in IT
field and had come within the last 10 years. The only self employed person was
a lawyer who
even baby steps count (as Chris Gardner -the author of Pursuit of happyness
says) --so even if the petition is not 100% perfect -it would be a start - a
voice of the public at large.

Barua,
You probably didn't read an email I sent earlier. Please find it below.
I made an attempt to improve the effectiveness of the petition. However if
the majority feels the petition is fine the way it is, I'll go along. Please
add my name to the petition.
There is no reason to squabble

Dear Barua,
My signature was conditional right from the beginning. The purpose was to
generate a short & strong "Petition" so that we do not become a laughing stock
in future.
Since the prime movers have not agreed, I must withdraw my signature, and I am
very sad about this.
I wish you all su

Happy New Year, Rajib, and thank you for liking the "Rhino Charge" story! My

I don't mean to steal Rajen's thunder here, but you will see shortly, how many
from Assam have joined us, including four -- not one, not two, not
three but four past Oxom Xahityo Xobha presidents have lent their
support of our stand.
I urge our fellow Oxom Xahityo Xobha members in the UK
Very perceptive of you Mohan.
You see it clearly and say it concisely.
Furthermore, it ought to be beneath the dignity of any Oxomiya who
values his identity to go beg the Indian Supreme Court to reverse
something that their fellow Oxomiyas have done to damage or dilute.

Dear HT:
Your idea about the PIL to stop GOA from changing the name Assam to Asom
is very good.
However Rajen's initiative and efforts to put together a signed petition
with research materials that tell us since how long in time, the name
Assam has been in use? Has the name Assam ever been corrupt
