Not specific to the Azores, but a handy tip I recently came across for
those using Family Tree Maker and synchronizing with Ancestry.com. I
mainly use it to have a copy of my ancestry.com tree, sources and media on
a local system where I control the data. Yes, I'm afraid of "clouds" ;-)

Got my FamilyTreeDNA results tonight. One 2nd Cousin from the Hickman side
of the family. Looks like they may live close too. Also got a 5th cousin
hit on John Vasconcellos. Now I need to read up on how this DNA stuff
works ;-) How realistic is it to find a link in the 5th cousin realm?

I'm trying to find information on my family's ancestry back to the
Azores. My grandfather is generation 1 (William Vasconcellos). Seems
that they came over as "Vasconcellos" (two L's), but other spelling
seems to indicate on "L". For the US side of the family, I have two
and the Azores side has
