record, it lists where he was born but I can't make it out on my screen.

"Madeiros" sounds like it should be a corruption of the surname
"Medeiros." Madeira is a different archipelago. It's not part of the
Azores. Maybe someone else has another idea for that place name.
You'll need a different record. Try for the marriage at St. John the

Madeiros is a variation on Medeiros. A large portion of my grandmother's side
of the family do spell their surname with an "a" while my grandmother and her
parents stayed with the traditional spelling.
