Something I meant to ask about a long, long time ago, but forgot about.
In the Ext3 instructions BLFS recommends to not set the the flag in
/etc/fstab to run the consistency check performed by the checkfs
script at boot time.
Why is this?

Everyone responding so far (and it has only been few hours) reports
that they set the flag in /etc/fstab to do auto checks of the filesytems
at boot time.
