What you are going to want to is this,in your add or create cunstion
add this bit of code:

$this->Session->setFlash('nickname is reserved please try another
one', 'default', array('class'=>'bad
so create a acl entry on the fly for every change/user?

I'm working on a note application, I want to be able to do private
sharing between users. I'm not sure how to go about it, but here is a
example of how I see it working:
note 1-- owned by bob view rights no one but bob
note 2 -- owned by bob view rights will and billy
note 3 -- owned by will view
