Today early morning may be around 5.00 am of so, I was awake and I heard
the googdoodoo goog do of a Great Horned Owl. So stuck my nose to window
and listened for it. It called four more time. Call seemed to be from far
away, but don't know how far. Probably it was in the Six mile Creek woods
For the past few days I have been seeing two different flocks of Snow
Buntings on Mt Pleasant: one flock of 8 or 9 birds is usually at the edge
of the road where there is exposed vegetation in which they forage, the
other flock of more like 20-25 birds is usually in flight over the fields.
And the
A/The male NORTHERN PINTAIL was in the flock of REDHEADS
off the ice out from the main pavilion at Stewart Park at 3pm today
(15 January). He looked very jaunty - tall and lean and rakish -
in that conservative crowd.

I can confirm (binocular view) the PEREGRINE FALCON atop Bradfield at 4:45pm
this evening.
The falcon (in multiple daily views since Tuesday this week) prefers to
perch at the highest possible point on the southeast corner, although I once
also saw it on the highest possible northwest corner. I ha
Good points, but really, Dave, I never doubted your report at Stewart Park!

There was a single GLAUCOUS GULL on the ice edge in the SE corner of
the lake among the black-backed, Herring, and Ring-billed Gulls. Until
an ice fisherman arrived at 8:30 and chased them away.
The two Long-tailed Ducks were also visible from the marina.
