We birded Montezuma this afternoon. Viewing Knox-Marcellus from East Road we pretty much had the same birds as the field trip except actually counting up to 520 Semipalmated Sandpipers. At that distance we did not attempt the Dowitcher ID but glad to know not to assume Short-billed at this date

Around noon Sunday, I took a short 20 minute hike on the trail located at the northwest corner of Hemlock Lake (just past the picnic area). Had numerous Hooded Warblers, a Warbling Vireo, a pair of Scarlet Tanagers, and Hairy & Downy Woodpeckers. As I returned to the Kiosk/parking area, I though
