I really like the Crystalline line of rope from Yale. For what it is worth
Practical Sailor did a dollars to stretch comparison a few years ago and
the Crystalline had one of best ratings/ratios. About a month ago I
finally decided that the fishhooks in my wire halyards had to go. A
renewed look
I just got 5/16 Endura Braid (SK75 Dyneema) for my main halyard from
Defender @ $350 including splices and shackle - I have a smaller boat, but
I am happy with how its working. Jib halyards are 5/16 Ultra Tech
(Technora core - similar to Kevlar) and I am pretty happy with their
performance too. W

What diameter line did you price? 3/8 would be plenty.
3/8 Endura braid is 3.12 a foot at APS.
I have 7/16 VPC and am happy with it. Its not the lowest stretch, but it
is a very good value.
