Sounds like northern birds are on the move. In addition to the two reports of
Redpolls on Cobirds today, I was informed about a small flock of Bohemian
Waxwings (seen by Cole Wild) in a remote section of the foothills west of

The Tuesday birders found two Common Redpoll at Prospect Park in Wheatridge,
Jefferson County today. ID photos available. Just past the bridge approximately
200 yards on west side by the birch/alder catkins.

Finally finished raking leaves today-- a chore always good to have in the
rear-view.
While bagging leaves, I found many feathers, (many EC Dove feathers) a
couple of which I hung onto, and consulted the bird feather guide that

I don't usually post yard birds, but two birds of note visited my
feeders in Las Animas today. A red Fox Sparrow arrived in my yard
yesterday, and finally found my feeders today. It was still present as
dusk approached today. When I was home this morning, a male Red-bellied

This morning a juvenile Northern Goshawk was perched down the street from
my house. My neighbor flushed it and it pursued a Eurasian Collared-Dove.
I watched the chase for about one mile up the river toward Paonia and then
they dived below trees, I don't know the outcome. I saw this same goshawk
