The Piping Plover was still at Clear Creek Valley Park at noon today. It was on
the east side of the gravel pond, on the west side of a long Island, hard too
see. Also 8 Avocets and many Cliffs Swallows.

There were about 50 Common Redpolls at the Discovery Museum in Ft. Collins this
morning. We did not see any Hoary Redpolls in the time we were there.
On the way home we saw a Rough-Legged Hawk on Highway 7, about a quarter of a
mile west of I 25.

We just had 3 flocks of about 150 Sandhill Cranes going over our house. Second
time in 5 years. Very loud, and headed south.

Thanks to Tom Pollock and Mark Chavez for pointing out the Mississippi Kites to
us before we even parked the car ! After Mark and Tom left, the Kites flew to
the trees on the south side across
from the rookery, where they came in on lower branches and stayed for quite
some time.
On the way
We found one male Dickcissel and one male Bobolink this morning at the Teller
Farms site posted by Cara Stiles and Thomas Heinrich. Both birds were on low
vegetation west of the Willow Tree,
blowing and singing in the wind. We dipped on the Blue Grosbeak, but two other
birders heard it in the

Today we also saw the Beautiful Snowy Owl. What a treat !
Now some observations..
We have not been birding much in the last two years, but I decided this was a
good way to start birding again.
