I think this is a mistake. I did an RPM with --nodeps, and the kernel installed fine without adding anything else (like kdeaddutils...) - Original Message - From: "Ray" [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, February 10, 2001 11:48 AM Subject: Re: [Cooker] 2.4 kernel

[Cooker] Modprobe error?

2001-02-11 Thread Don Awalt
Using the cooker 2.4.1-8mdk kernel, I noticed the following message in boot up but everything seems to be working. I tried rebuilding the initrd image. What is this, I can't find a solution on the web (or is it an issue with the 2.4.1 kernel RPM build?) kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k

I am trying to get the 2.4.1-8mdk smp kernel installed on a 2.2.17 Mandrake 7.2 system with all the current rpms'd updated (the 2.4.1 kernel would be the only cooker addition). I rpm -ivh the headers, source, and docs. I then did rpm -ivh on the kernel-utils. When I rpm -ivh the kernel-smp, I

[Cooker] Fatal problem in Setting up network - no room to enter FQDN !

2000-09-22 Thread Don Awalt
I just installed Beta 2, and I noticed that when I am configuring my host + domain name, it no longer fits! host is 6 characters then a dot FQDN is 26 characters (.y.zz..com) so the total is 33 characters! Name is so longer as it is a subnet on a public cable modem network.

FWIW I installed the latest beta on a Gateway dual 450 PC, and while the installation asked about memory (and it said it saw 512MB), it did not use more than 64MB when it booted up. The first time I installed (all installs were fresh) I did not change anything and it saw 64MB. I reinstalled
