It *was* worse when I had errant cvs tags in effect, and so part
of the tree was updated differently than the rest, but thats sorted
out now.
Since you readily acknowledge having had some errant tagging issues
in your tree previously, I would just delete and re-checkout your

Passing the -r option to ./build.sh will force a clean of DESTDIR.
That's good to know! I just went through ./build.sh again, see -r option
clears both DESTDIR and TOOLDIR.
I think the DESTDIR must have still had stuff from 6.99.40.
