Argh ! This is exactly the description of a bug I'm tracking for days right now! :-( So I've tried to downgrading from tar 1.15.91-2 to 1.14-2.2, just to see if it can be a workaround waiting amanda-2.5.1. The answer tomorrow morning... I think this bug should be reclassified from normal to urge
