Please go ahead and close this bug. It appears to be a Wayland issue as I
have discovered 2 other programs which are experiencing the same issue. I
have yet to find the root cause, but have tried a fresh install and can
confirm the extensions app is working fine on my machine with Wayland.

It turned out, that some devices have USB-problems, when you connect
them to the upgraded notebook. Particularly with GNOME and KDE Desktops,
so in this regard Cinnamon seems better, see screenshot.
