thank you for the explanation. As Debian/Sid still uses kdepim 4.14
(kmail is currently at version 4.14.10-2) it explains why I need to
have baloo4 installed.

the indexing/searching in kmail was seperated code in baloo forever, but lived
for historical resons (nepomuk) in the same repo. With the move to kf5 the
baloo repo was split to the file indexer (baloo-kf5) and akonadi-search.
For kdepim based on kf5 that means, it it totaly uninteressing

Perhaps we should file a bug agaisnt baloo-kf5.
