I think the 2.0.x kernel was the last one to keep stats on aliases,
anything newer is interfaces only.
if you need the aliases stats, setup IP accounting and get that
data to M
Hi All,
Quick Q: If I'm collecting SNMP stats using mrtg and have the following
setup
eth0: 192.168.1.1
eth0:1 192.168.1.2
Does linux keep stats for the interface and aliases and just the combined
total on the interface?
Cheers
Rus

Thanks for responding. For awhile I thought no one was using SNMP on
Debian. I installed NET SNMP, the latest version from source and am now
trying to figure out how to use it.
Is there a way to create MIBs on Windows NT products without having to
buy an expensive 'MIB creator pa

problems...
When I try the command:

I got errors:
Error in packet.

Hello
I’m trying to setup a Debian system that would act as
an SMNP Server(?), the unit that will be receiving traps from various Windows
NT machines.
What is out there that would enable me to do this?
I assume the Debian system would run the SNMP application,
such as NET SNMP Apps

Hi,
I am trying to monitor squid with mrtg, for which snmp is needed. As far
as I know snmp support is compiled in by default on Debian (I checked the
debian/rules in the sources), but I can't get it to work.
In /etc/squid.conf I have:
acl snmppublic snmp_community public
snmp_access
RTFFAQ? Turns out that the problem doesn't occur if I specify a really
long timeout for smtpwalk. After the
'system.sysORTable.sysOREntry.sysORUpTime.9' line, it just gives me an
'End of MIB' and does not stay busy after that. So I know a
workaround, but I'd still like to know why it takes so long
Hi,
I am using an up-to-date snmp/snmpd on Woody (i.e. both are version
4.2.3-2). If I do an 'snmpwalk localhost public system', it diplays
everything up to system.sysORTable.sysOREntry.sysORUpTime.9 and then
gives me a timeout. After that, snmpd stays unresponsive for a long
time.
Greetings,
I'm using (Debian Potato):
apache-ssl 1.3.9.13-3
php44.0.3pl1-0potato2
php4-snmp 4.0.3pl1-0potato2
When I call the snmpget() function, the Apache-ssl error log shows:
[Tue Feb 26 11:33:31 2002] [notice] child pid 2708 exit s
