I never liked wvdial myself, but there's not really anything wrong
with it.
Instead, you can fiddle with /etc/chatscripts and /etc/p

"wvdial" seems to be doing the wrong thing; instead
of sending the Username and Password it seems confused
and tries things like "ppp" and "pppd" when prompted.
I tried to remove them hoping to handle the prompts by
hand (which I'd like to do anyway...) but it won't
dial then.

the problem is:
after dialing with wvdial i get an OK msg, but then my (internal noname
PnP 56k) modem just keeps beepi
During a recent dselect session, I was offered the wvdial utility which
I downloaded and tried. Attached is a session that resulted when I gave
it a try. What does "Improper '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' specification" mean, and
how do I fix it. TIA
