I have a similar problem too. Here is my attached valgrind output after running
for a an hour or so running some compiles so lots of scroll buffer.
Konsole and other terminal emulators don't exhibit this large memory usage, but
xfce-terminal does. Does it have shared code with gnome-terminal?

Thanks Erik, i grabbed the source for the package (and dependencies including
libsmbios, compiled and installed the deb, added the module dcdbas to
/etc/modules and it worked fine (on a dell d620).
Looks like the debs in gutsy still aren't built with dell-backlight support
correctly - they don't

After the latest upgrade the fonts in gnome-terminal where far too small
so I wanted to go to gnome-appearance-properties to check what the font
size is.

backlight.
The function keys increase/decrease the brightness as normal, but the Power
Manager Brightness Applet still can't control the brightness, and I don't see

Sebastien, I rolled back the work-around above by using "--type int" and
then updated, without success: the gnome-terminal still opens with tiny
fonts. Applying the work-around again puts all gnome-terminal windows

Confirming that Hendrick's fix works. I used the deskbar to start an

Yesterday I filed the same bug, but as I can't find it anymore I confirm this

just a note about the progress of this bug on my system ; Dell Precision M4300
(Dual 64bits + nVIDIA Quaddro FX360M, Gutsy 32bits installed from tribe5 liveCD
then regulars dist-upgrade ; nvidia-glx-new installed and working; compiz

I didn't encounter any font size problem since in

noticed some strange behavior.
I'm not sure if this is related, but I noticed Evince throwing up
repeated warnings of "cairo context error: NULL pointer" in the console
when open
This is the file showing the warnings, please check if it happens for
others, too.
