Thanks a lot @Deku King! This bug is driving me crazy, since it affects
all parts of the GUI and makes my PC almost unusable. Except for gaming,
which is not affected. Hmm... maybe I should check if I accidentally
booted the wrong OS...

OMG, what an incredibly stupid move by the ubuntu maintainers. I have
the same problem as anyone else who has been forcefully downgraded and I
tried to solve it by reverting to Daniel's version. However, this
"downgrade" would uninstall a lot of GNOME related packages (including
`gnome-shell`):

Just want to add that the bug also affects GnuCash and basically makes
it unusable. The updated mutter from the PPA fixed it.

I can confirm this bug. It actually broke my dist-upgrade from 12.04 to
14.04. I fixed it manually by deleting the broken script and removing
gdm.
I tried to reinstall gdm today but the package is still broken, i. e.
the post-install script is broken. Executing it manually with

Unable to set
I see the same behavior with Evolution 2.30.3 on Ubuntu 10.10 on an IMAP
account using SSL. Remote IMAP server is Dovecot.
On startup only INBOX is shown, if I change settings in the account
config, the subfolders are displayed. After restarting evolution, the
folders are invisible again.

The gnome-volume-manager packet is installed on my Jaunty system. Why is
it still there when it's obsolete? Does it even do anything? Anyway, I
attached the output of devkit-disks --dump. The cdrom is listed,
automounting for audio and blank cds works too, only data discs
I've did some research and found that package "gnome-volume-manager" is
not installed! Wasn't this package responsible for automounting? Has
this function been moved to another package, maybe device-kit? Is it
safe to install gnome-volume-manager?
