I had this too, this bug was solved since 9.04 I think, 9.10 anyway.

can you run nautilus under gdb, do Ctrl-C when it uses 100% of CPU and
then get a backtrace?

That's exactly what i said in the post before: the crash was not given,
'program exited normally'
and then i saw the nautilus window appearing, with empty content on the file
box,
and the processor going 100% until i force exit
at this time is it better i wait for gutsy official release or can i
there is no crash in the log

i was root
(sudo bash)
for an apt-get and i tested again the error,
"nautilus ." in the directory of the tif file and
nautilus went correctly and the preview showed up
then i switched back to user mode (exit the root bash)
and "nautilus ." gave again the eternal 100% processor s
The thumbnail is created correctly on gutsy, could you try to get the
backtrace of the crash?
