Thanks very much for the workaround. It would be great to have this be a
standard feature in the UI though. I have exactly the same problem as Graham
(junior IT persons who like buttons and lights)

this option is not yet in the vanilla install. at least not GUI-wise.
running 9.04 at the moment.
but the gconf-editor solution works just fine. thx!
btw: this feature is also essential for kiosk systems.

manager/buttons/power to "nothing". you must set this key for each user.

I also have this problem. In my case, for some reason the power button
is "pressed" (i.e., not by me) during wakeup from suspend. I could work
around this with a "do nothing" option, but instead my best alternative
is "ask me". This almost works, except that for some reason the dialog
box is eit
