Okay, now I am home, but I figure I have to reinstall all the avahi stuff,
which is a pain...
I'll try and do it this afternoon, though

You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

This was definitely an avahi issue, but it was fixed in some recent avahi
update, marking closed, because the bug has been fixed. Both by upgrading and
with new installation.
Cheers

Thank you for the work, the backtraces are not really useful though. I'm
too busy to work on that at the moment and you seem to be the only one
annoyed by it, might be due to your network configuration or something.
Opening an avahi task also, that might be due to it

well, when I press ctrl-c while running the program in gdb, gdb exits.
what should be done? I searched the internet for a solution to this, but
I can't find one, everyone says press ctrl-c, which brings me to the OS
prompt. how do I get back to the gdb prompt WHILE the debugged program
is still
why do you need to exit rhythmbox?
- gdb rhythmbox
(gdb) run
... switch song, then ctrl-C on the gdb command line
(gdb) thread apply all bt full

So, here, the first songchange is done while on the ne (I forgot to unplug the
cable), then I changed songs twice, both times the program hung for a few
seconds.
Thanks for the help, in the meanwhile I simply uninstall avahi :)

Rhythmbox DOESN't crash, it hangs for a few seconds between songs, I can
not backtrace a not crashing program. Or if I can't it somehow didn't
work, as I got the no stack problem with gdb. I did follow the
instructions, and I did install the -dbgsym package for rhythmbox.

Run it under gdb, wait until the hang happens, press Ctrl-C, then thread
apply all bt full and attach the output here.

Maybe should I not ext rhythmbox before doing bt? I'll try that as soon
as I get home, sorry for my ignorance.

Okay, I figured out the root of the problem: it' avahi. I removed avahi,
and rhythmbox now works smoothly even when I'm not connected to the
internet. I guess avahi needed to timeout or something before the song
could be changed. This might also be because of a configuration issue in
the default
Thanks for your bug report. Please try to obtain a backtrace

Sorry, this is not a crash, I guess that is why gdb won't give me a backtrace:
(gdb) backtrace
No stack.
Please help me out here, what could I do?
Maybe run
rhythmbox -d sometextfile
?
cheers
