just tried unpluging the zip drive..
HAL comes up now, but the device manager takes forever to come up.
lshal works though, and the device manager does work, albeit slowly.

Very similar problem has occured on my Dapper experimental box. Was working
fine with Flight 3, then updated 27th Jan and boot ground to a halt at the HAL
stage. Didn't wait long enough for error messages, no progress

Hmm. I have the same problem, and I also have a zip-drive. Seems like
Lauren have one as well, but Eric don't, so it might or might not be the
a cause. Weird, though.
