Are there further things I can check? The list of audio devices is what
I have - exactly those 4 devices showed up in 22.04. They also show up
in alsamixer, where I can mute/unmute, change volume...
I usually used an USB sound card (the 1 [G1 ]: USB-Audio - Sound
BlasterX G1) listed in the above

I agree that Writer's default vs text body choice is inconsistent; Word
just uses Normal for both initial para style and after heading.
Improving consistency in this area sounds useful. If this is just a UI

I installed firefox-104.0.2 from upstream, and set both users' desktop
environments to use that one instead of the Ubuntu bundled version. I
didn't know how firefox handles profiles with different versions of the
browser installed, so I (perhaps unnecessarily) cleaned out ~/.mozilla
for both
