I'm having this problem too. It usually crashes after every song, but
sometimes it plays a few songs before crashing.
>From memory I think the problem started when I upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10.

It just closes. I'll wonder, "Why is it quiet?" And I find that Banshee
has closed/crashed. It only happens at the end of a song, so it's never
jarring.
