Reaching beyond LinkedIn (which is somewhat regional) participation in open
source is a great way to build up documented experience. Especially for
those new to the job market consider reaching out to the projects you
contribute to and asking for a letter of recommendation.

Ditto. GRASS is over 30 years old, MapServer, GDAL and PROJ are over 20 years
old. An OSGeo Pantheon would be the right homage to all those that made FOSS4G
what it is today, but are no longer among us.
