Finding a software player or codec usually is not the problem for a
hardware manufacturer. Licensing and patents are.
This is less of an issue for open-source software players because you
download and use them yourself as a user but a hardware vendor can't
just ship these players, he would still

Certainly glad to see another serious and experienced competitor uping
the ante a bit, in both form and function. Sexy looking player too.
That said, Olive One is definitely following more closely to the Sonos
model. I looked into Olive and the (then) very similar Yamaha MisicCast
system years

Do you know more about the status of this? So far, the code is still
under GPL, not LGPL and this decision was more than a year ago.
I think _all_ developers who have ever contributed

Please, keep your piehole filled with pie. Tis the season. Are you using
the preview builds? Any fix will make it's appearance there first.
I've just installed Squeezeplayer for Android on my Archos Home Connect
(I know, useless name!) internet radio.
Working without issues!
Nice.

Do you listen using the speakers built into the Archos, or did you
connect it to a more serious stereo amp and speakers?

Just the internal speakers - used as a bedside radio.

There aren't that many decent digital iPod docks on the market. Best I
have come across is an Onkyo DS A5 but its well pricey!

Thanks Triode. Fingers
That depends on what you consider well pricey.
The Squeezebox Touch retailed around the £200 (UK) mark. The Onkyo can
be got for £140.
If you already own an iDevice you can add around a tenner for iPeng and
the playback, and you're there for £150 - £50 less than a Touch (was).
Plus you have
The more I read about the Olive One on their website the more appealing

For you the Onkyo dock would be a good move as its also an Airplay

You could use the ipad as a player either docked (is ipad3 30 pin?) or
via airplay - I assume you have some kind of hifi from your comments.

Hmmm seems it'll play only mp3 formats - no AAC ???
I've heard good things about using an iDevice with iPeng and the Pure

its digital output to your own DAC -- both options better than just
using the iDevice headphone output.
It would seem that Logitech abandoning the

Hi castalla,
as written per mail: SqueezePlayer indeed does only support mp3 and FLAC
natively.
BUT: it depends on your Squeezebox-Server, whether it supports more
formats, as the Squeezebox-Server is able to transcode

The question I have is whether LMS can ultimately be supported and

Bit perfect works with iPeng but depending on the dock hardware you use,
you might have to set the volume to 100%
It's also limited to a maximum of 48kHz/24bit except on iPad when using
the camera connection kit in which case you can go up to 96/24.
A few people have done the full round trip
