when testing stuff like this, only do one thing at a time. if you do
many at once, you won't know which one was the key, (altho sometimes it
is a combo of things, but thats why you try things in a considered
order)

Does that not rely on writing an alarm to the real-time-clock chip?

You can use the Windows Task Scheduler to start a program (ie cmd.exe)
and select "wake up computer".

Hi...
One caveat upfront is that I'm using a Duet system, not an SB3, but
seems like the basics oughta' be the same. I've been playing around
with this functionality, too, the past few days. First of all, this
phrase from the Wiki is VERY important to understand:
"There is no way to tell Squee
the computer has to be wired to the router, the sb3 can be wireless.
i have a dell laptop and when i got it, i could not get it to go to
sleep or hibernate unattended. i tried EVERYTHING and the only thing
that worked, was swapping out the hard drive. from that point on, it
slept like a baby.
I am very interested in this WOL feature. I have a wired SB3 and an XP
computer. I installed MCE and selected S3 sleep state. When I go into
devices my SB3 is not listed. How do I enable my SB3 so it can wake my
computer from S3 state?
I believe that Wake on Magic Packet is enabled on my computer.

Odd. Your PC is wired to the router and not using wi-fi?
And no plug-in on the Squeezebox Server to do with power-management or
preventing system Stand By?

When the computer goes into standby, it stays in standby mode.

Are you sure you've configured the Wake-On-LAN correctly in your
Ethernet card via the BIOS?
It should only come out of sleep in response to the 'magic packet', not
any traffic.

I've just discovered the WOL functionality and this is absolutely
magical as before I was leaving my computer always on just for my
squeezes.
Yesterday, I tried to set up power management in Windows 7.
As soon as my computer goes into standby/hibernate, SBS always wake up
