Tried to boot from freshly created live cd, and received the same error.
So it looks like it is not corelated to configuration of my computer,
but rather an Ubuntu itself.
Can I have some help how to at least try to find a source of this error?
Or any workaround for similar bug to look at?

I don't know if this information will help:
When I lock the laptop and it logs me out, and then I try and log back
in, I have to log in twice. I get a login prompt on top of what looks
like the system default background, then my desktop background loads,
and then I log in again. It doesn't act lik

Hmmm. After I rebooted, there was no more a spinner/hourglass in the menu...
My menu seems correct width. IIRC the spinner was in the left half part of the
menu.

After a number of trials, the use of command "sudo nautilus" instead of "gksu
nautilus" does not result in Nautilus (Root) changing the Unity Launcher
background to the default.
