Good Evening,
I wish you all luck on the Flight of the Bumblebees adventure
tomorrow. It should be fun. I gained a BB number so will be active
outside for a few hours. Hopefully the propagation will be good and the
bugs will be happy with just a little of my blood. The weather has been
Hello,
After a 2 year delay (starting a business), I'm finally ready to start
building my K2. It is Rev A kit for which I purchased the Rev B upgrade with
new PC boards. I can't remember why now, but I wound up downloading and
printing a Rev E manual after buying the upgrade. The instructions
Conventional wisdom seems to be always use an isolation transformer in the
PSK-31 output to your mike input. I think most also agree it best to use
one in your PSK-31 input from your rigs audio out. Several of the
commercial kits/units do not do the latter. I have tried it with and
without and n
The posts on this topic mention an isolation transformer to
"separate" the computer from the PSK audio line. So I might have
missed the boat a little when I decided to ground the computer
chassis/case to the common equipment ground. That is, I have a ground
rod with a wire coming up to a copper
Hi all,
Well after letting the smoke out of a few parts now and then, and getting to
know the people at Elecraft very well every time I needed some advice and
parts, and of course depending on this list for everyone's advice, I have
finally upgraded K2 #402.
I got the KAT100 and KPA100 into the EC
The Bencher is sold and going to Belgium. Many thanks.

Charlie,
Hopefully to simplify the battery thing:
First, for an SLA battery to charge properly from a supply, there are
seveeral ways to accomplish that 1) put a constant 'float' voltage on the
battery terminals along with a current limiting resistor in series.
Normally the 'float' voltage is to b
Charles,
I think Don W3FPR came up with the idea of putting in a second charging
jack that bypasses the resistor and diode but has a fuse, so you can use
a smart charger.
I've put in a jack in mine and bought a double-pole double-throw switch
to replace the existing battery switch so I can swap

I have read what I could find on the Elecraft web site and in this group's
archives and am still confused about proper use and care of the K2's internal
battery. I know that some owners install a new jack on their K2s to bypass the
K2's built-in battery protection (a resistor and a diode?). However
Thanks, Don.
I picked up two audio ground loop isolators from Radio Shack last week
when I wanted to recalibrate my filters using Spectrogram. I figured
if I needed one for audio to the computer, I'd probably need on for
audio out as well.
The isolator worked very well with Spectrogram; it remove

The jack in my K1/4 failed after a week or so - 4 years ago. I assumed it was
