Being lazy and hating to plug and unplug headphones, I simply made an audio box that I feed the audio from the speaker output of the K2 to a switch that switches between my head phones and my external speaker. I use an old Heathkit Speaker HS-1661 rather then the built in Elecraft speaker. The audio from this speaker is great and it points right at me rather then up like the speaker in the K2. Try also the old GE Mobile or Motorola Mobile speakers they have good audio also, the Heathkit, GE and Motorola speakers are often available at hamfests for $10 or $20 at the most.
