Is anyone using Win2K's boot loader to boot linux instead of LILO?
I have read Linux+NT-Loader HOWTO and wondering if the same method would
work with Win2K.
Thanks

Currently, I am booting into linux with a boot floppy created at the
installation. I am about to upgrade to 2.4 kernel and I would like to find
out how to create a boot disk once the upgrade is complete. The order of
things to do seems to me critical although I am sure of exactly how.
In Mandrake 7.2, where is the hostname located?
Before it was set in the file 'HOSTNAME' in /etc directory, but in this new
version, the file, 'HOSTNAME', does not exist in /etc.
Did someone notice this?

Hi,
I am trying to use ami or ami-applet in order to be able to write emails in
Korean language, but when I open up the property of ami, it's all written in
Korean and I can't read a word since my installation locale is in English.
So, my question is;
How do I enable the display of menu or
How do I add new hardware such as SCSI adapter and SCSI drive to a system
that only has IDE drive? Do I need to recompile the kernel with those
optons in?
Is that the only way?
Thnx

After installing KDE2, mouse scroll stopped working in Nescape, but works
fine in any KDE apps such as Konquerer, KEdit, and so on.
Anybody has the same happened? And, how do I fix this?
THanks

Hi,
I've downloaded all the KDE2 rpms and was about to upgrade, but it was
asking for a specific version of menu plus mandrake-desktop rpms. I looked
for them in both Mandrake Cooker and rpmfind site, but to no avail. Anyone
had similar issue and does anyone know where I can find them?
THX
Thanks for that info.
BTW, can you give the URL of the location?
THanks again.

Has anybody been able to get beta3 ISO from the mirror?
"ftp.free.fr" site is always full and "rpmfind.net" site gives me permission

Hi,
I am currently running 7.1 with Xfree86 4.0 and I would like to upgrade to
4.01.
I think I've downloaded all the necessary RPMs from 'rpmfind.net' cooker,
all the RPMs with 4.01 tag including "xintrc".
So now how do I go about installing them? Do I need any other RPMs?
What configs do I
OK, this is a first for me.
I installed 7.2 beta2 and it would go into KDE(1.93) automatically
without going thru a login manager. However when I log out, it would
drop out to what seems like kdm(kde login manager?). From there, I
could choose whichever installed desktop environment and go in
Something really weird is going on. This is sort of a continuing message
from my last post about JBuilder. So I installed JBuilder last night, then
turn my computer off. This morning I turned it on and somehow my run level
was set to 3. Weird, I thought, anyways I logged in and startx'ed
Well, I actually installed Sun's JDK 1.3 beta last night. No problem at
all. Though I had problem installing JBuilder. Just follow the
instruction. No rocket science. Download it and rpm it. That's it.

I tried to change the icon of the symlinks on my desktop, btw the icons are
different from those of 'root' after installing Helix Gnome 1.2. I would go
into property of a symlink and change the icons, but no effect. And, i
checked the permission and it's alright.
Anyone had the same problem?
I've been happly using 7.1 beta-3 for a couple of weeks while waithing for
the official release of 7.1. So as soon as it was made avail, I downloard
it and installed. And to my surprise, it actually seemed not as good as
beta-3. There were seg-fault upon closing the control centre in GNOME,
Neither.
I am kinda sick of Netscape, too. I am probably gonna have to pay for
saying this, but IE5 is a wholelot better browser.
