So I have been struggling with this as well and I think I have found a
work around/fix.
And it has to do with what John mentioned and uninstalling the
player sort of, because I can remember running the uninstaller and
it not fixing it.
So here is what I did.
Go to this directory C:\WINDOWS\
l

I think it happened to me on a site where I'm using the "express install" to
check for Player 8.
Only the one time though I am keeping a lookout for it again.
