well sometimes I ask a question on list so its answer is archived and then if I
need it again I can go find it if I really have to.

It really depends on the developer. Obviously a developer that isn't on
this list would prefer they get asked personally or via there company
mailing list as they can answer questions directly. Developers like
myself who are on this list probably don't mind a question sent to the
developer
. All gets
kind of confusing.
