Note that operating systems often include a magnify mode.
For example, in Gnome 3 used on many Linux systems, go to the
accessibility menu on the top panel and enable zoom;

If you move your mouse, that zoom moves around as well. It's good for precision
and not having to zoom in while making selections. On top of that, you can
control the cursor with the arrow keys for further precision.
