I had a lot of troubles too.
Some of them I solved just by trying (a lot), other I ask for help for
some researchers (experts) who already installed.
So, I have some tricks and details that is necessary and is not
mentioned in doc.

I thinking having the install and quickstart guides in a wiki format
would be extremely helpful. The globus user community seems well
suited to help maintain this documentation. These guides are very
helpful, and allowing them to be updated might help to improve them
further.

I like that idea a lot. We use docbook to generate most of the toolkit's web
content. We'll have to think through if and where taking on a transition like
that would make sense. Maybe there are some GT pages that are best left to be
generated via docbook and some that could be changed to beco
