I'm getting it weaker than normal but still nearly armchair copy on 700 KALL,
pushing aside 690 XEWW splatt is also listed as an affiliate but they seem to
have something else running, and have a het (around F or F# about 1/2 octave
below middle C) ripping the frequency to shreds.

670 Chicago made it to Grand Island along with 720. Also amazing was hearing
the old 850 KLEU under KOA right outside of GI with my Dads old 68 Catalina

KSTP at night uses 3 tripod like towers that are specially geared for optimal
skywave. These towers are the original built back in the early history of KSTP.
When I was in Grand Island, NE back in the 80's, I remember that at night, KSTP
had a local signal, stronger than KRGI, that did not hardl
Not surprisingly, I was able to hear all the announcements for the 580 WHP
test. The best signal was during the 4:05am segment although voice and code
made it through the other times, too. I'm about 75 miles NW of the station
and can normally hear them well during the day, not so well at night.

Agreed! My dx from NW Iowa always found KFYR with a good daytime
signal, year round. Concordia KS would be under them but KFYR was a
solid signal. From California I was always impressed with being able to
hear KUZZ-800-Bakersfield with 250 D daytime. This from West Sacramento

effects. With the solar K index at 4 later on , propagation here favored
stations from across the Atlantic and to the south. Western signals were pretty

a-DXer. They are supposed to be 29 watts @ night but must be the full
500. They have done this for a while ;).
