KAZ,
That would be a good station to check for here in Mid Winter. I did not
know any legal TIS stations operated on 1710. The Seattle Russian pirate
is still on 1710.

I'll have to drive into Chicago and see if I can find the general area W807 is

Kaz,
I've been monitoring 1710 for the last hour and it's the usual mix here:
the Hudson County, NJ. TIS, Radio Celestial from the Bronx (despite that
FCC bust letter that circulated around, they continue to broadcast), and
Chicago pirate "W807". Radio Celestial plays music this time of night

Reasonably readable sigs from this TIS tonight but with some QRM from something

still on 1710 from east of me?

Gary pegged it nicely this morning, lackluster. Mostly just the big
guns, anything further was hard work.

Rather a different take on the morning from Gary, as this was the
best TP morning thus far in the season, here in southern Alberta, at
least on the lower end of the band. Japan produced audio on

short periods. The upper e

After reading posts that the WDEV QSL arrived in some mailboxes, I was
delighted to find the same when I arrived home this evening. Not sure how
many QSLs I have from Vermont, but not many. Thanks to Mr. Welch and all
who helped make the test happen.

Hello All,
It was another lackluster session here this morning as only a few Asian big
guns managed to show up with any audio-- and even they had a serious case of
anemia. 828-JOBB (poor), 972-HLCA (fair), the 1053-Jammer (fair) and 1575-VOA

Bill, congrats on the WDEV verie letter. Vermont is a pretty exotic domestic

I'm noting KDIS 1110 Pasadena (Radio Disney) off the air right now (Friday
afternoon 9/6 at 1:15 PM PDT/ 1615 EDT) There have been power outages all over
SoCal over the last 24 hours, but mostly out towards Riverside county
(heatwave, lightning, etc...) Not sure what the cause is here. Loud

Thank you very much, Mike!
Here are a few numbers that were staring me in the face while contemplating
ever logging Vermont: there are only 18 AM stations currently licensed in the
state. Of these, two (WRSA 1420 and WFAD 1490) are currently silent. Of the 16
on air, eight are graveyarders, on

I guess the "Death of am radio" actually means the end of the golden age of
radio and not the actual signing off and going silent of all the stations
currently on the air. Nothing lasts forever - good or bad. Who knows what
the future of the AM band will be! Jim

After all Gary, my signal was a lot weaker than yours, even though
I was using a bigger antenna and receiver. Of course, I wasn't
facing down 18 wheelers, unless there was something very odd indeed
in my morning tea...
best wishes,
Nick
