offers to uninstall it, otherwise the installation will not continue.

The "generic_DigitalScanner_Plugin.dll" must not be included in a digiKam 8.x.x
installation at all. Presumably you once uninstalled a digiKam version
incorrectly, it's clear that it then crashes.

Perhaps I'm running into a different issue? I will say that I did not get any
event view error show. Just the splash screen went away. I used DebugView to
look for errors from DigiKam, but I did not see
