If you're going to Kent, then visit Deal - a surprisingly attractive and
charming little seaside town with a very nice coast walk to Dover (get the
train back).
Agree about Whitby being the best tho'.

The only thing I know about Deal is I knew a lad on my Geography course at
Leeds University back in the 70s who was from Deal (but was a massive Leeds
fan.)
He liked to sing , before going out of an evening, a nice little hometown
ditty: "We come from Deal town, so get yer knickers down."
Deal is great. The area around middle street is lovely so is viking bay in
Broadstairs
