Am I missing something? I don't understand the problem. The image is only
linked to Legacy. You can use any image editor on the image, edit away,
when you get what you want, save it to the original name, and voila the
newly-edited image will appear in Legacy.

Thanks Michele, it will be a welcome improvement!
Meanwhile, I continue to link images twice, as image and as document in
order to have access to my external editor from within Legacy.

I have tons of pictures; there are scanned documents, camera photos,
scanned photos, downloaded photos (I don’t trust the Internet to be static
so when I find something interesting, I download it)

But how often do you want to edit images? I do my editing before
attaching to Legacy. I edit a copy of my archived image and then usually
resize so Legacy doesn't have to work so hard
I have a problem and (perhaps) a solution to this, and I am now wondering
if anyone sees any drawback or problem in my solution:
Image management in Legacy is not the best but you can’t demand so much,
it's a genealogy program.
