The problem seems to be solved with update to 5.4.1 portable, the working
.odb-files made with other system-configurations can be opend now.

in parallel testing I gave it a try with LO 5.4. within a virtualbox:
XP Sp3/32 with full install of Java 7-80: worked
open that odb-file on the Host failed and crashed LO immidiatly.
