Also, my wife's machine (running 32-bit Vista and LO 4.1.5.3 makes the
connection just fine. However, when I run LO 4.1.5.3 on my 64-bit Win-7 OS, I
get the "#REF!" error message.

I've played with many options and I cannot reproduce with 4.1.6.2 on Vista.
Can you check for options in Tools > Options > LO Calc > General and Formula in
